For coaches
John, a manager, receives advice from his workplace to improve his communication skills and empathetic capacity. He decides to seek help from an external coach, during the intake session he brings up several challenging situations:
He struggles to offer consolation or respond adequately to the emotional needs of his employees, resulting in a perception of disinterest.
An inability to engage in informal conversations leads his colleagues to conclude that he is unfriendly and odd.

After a few coaching sessions focused on practicing empathy and communication, the desired progress was not made. The turning point came with John's participation in the ITTI®-analysis, which surprisingly revealed that he indeed possessed sufficient empathy, verbal aptitude, and communication talent. However, two other factors proved to be obstacles.
Solution
By specifically targeting the moderation of John's perfectionism in coaching, not only was his fear of failure reduced, but his communication also significantly improved.
